Iriga fire victims receive P10,000 cash assistance from DSWD

DSWD Assistant Regional Director for Operation Melchor L. Sanano and Mayor Rex Oliva led the distribution of 10,000 cash assistance to 113 fire victims through DSWD Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) Program on Monday, February 5 at ICT Building, Sta. Cruz Sur Iriga City.

Apart from the 10k cash assistance, DSWD and the City Government of Iriga through OCSWD are also working out to provide livelihood assistance for the affected market vendors, a start-up capital ranging from P10,000 to P20,000 through its Sustainable Livelihood Program.

The beneficiaries of the said assistance were tent stall owners who were greatly affected by the fire past midnight on Feb. 2 at Iriga City Public Market.

In a statement, Mayor Rex urged fire victims to spend their money wisely and prioritize as the start-up capital for their business. Mayor Rex also appealed to the victims to stop the spread of misinformation on social media platforms as the PNP and BFP are conducting a thorough investigation of the incident.
