As part of the government’s ongoing response to the economic strain brought about by global oil price increases linked to tensions in the Middle East, on April 16, 2026, a total of 758 beneficiaries received Php5,000 each in financial assistance under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program, totaling to Php 3,790,000.
DSWD Bicol Regional Director Norman S. Laurio, supervised the CRA Payout in the province, who was on-site to oversee the implementation and ensure that the assistance reached its intended recipients efficiently and transparently.
The distribution held in multiple venues across the Masbate to ensure accessibility and orderly distribution, particularly in towns of Cataingan, Milagros, Mandaon, and in the Island Municipality of San Jacinto.
The aforementioned payouts was the second batch of CRA in the province, as the distribution of financial aid for the tricycle drivers in Masbate City was held on April 8, 2026. Meanwhile, the distribution will continue in other municipalities until April 20.
This assistance is being implemented under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program and serves as augmentation support for Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) drivers, including tricycle drivers whose daily earnings have been significantly impacted by escalating fuel costs.
With transportation workers among the most vulnerable to fluctuations in oil prices, the DSWD headed by Secretary Rex Gatchalian continues to provide timely interventions aimed at alleviating their financial burden and sustaining their livelihoods amid ongoing economic challenges.
This response aligns with the directives of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ensuring that the individuals and families affected by crisis are receiving the much-needed assistance.
