A new Super Health Center in Iriga City was officially inaugurated by the Department of Health Bicol Center for Health Development and the City Government of Iriga to introduce improved community-centered healthcare services to its constituents.
The ceremonial activity on March 25, 2025 signified the completion of phase 1 of the newly constructed health facility.
It will be provisioned with essential clinical laboratory equipment that would cater primary medical services including basic blood test, urinalysis, stool analysis, pregnancy test, Complete Blood Count (CBC), Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS), Basic Serology Testing, and Sputum Smear Test (ST).
Consequently, patients will have easier access to medical consultations, TB DOTS, PhilHealth Konsulta, family planning services, and quality medicines.
Diagnostic Radiologic services such as Electrocardiogram (ECG), x-ray, and ultrasound are also slated for subsequent deployment.
In his speech, Dr. Rodolfo Antonio M. Albornoz, DOH Bicol CHD Regional Director, said this initiative is a joint effort between DOH Bicol with its allocation of P9.5-M, and LGU Iriga providing an equity contribution amounting to P5M.
As stipulated in the 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA), DOH Bicol is set to download P5-M to LGU Iriga as added support for the funding of the phase 2, RD Albornoz added.
The inauguration and blessing was led by RD Albornoz, alongside distinguished representatives from the City Government of Iriga headed by its Mayor, Hon. Wilfredo Rex C. Oliva, joined in by the City Vice Mayor, Hon. Edsel S. Dimaiwat, together with the members of the Sangguninang Panlungsod of Iriga City.
A groundbreaking ceremony was also conducted for the Iriga City Public Hospital in furtherance to bridging healthcare gaps, particularly for underserved populations. Among the key officials present were the 5th District Representative of Camarines Sur, Hon. Miguel Luis Villafuerte, and Iriga City Architect, Ar. Romano R. Alvaro.
The activities were also attended by City Health Officer II, Dr. Ronald G. Pereña; Assistant City Health Officer, Dr. Cindy Melissa T. Villareal; and Rural Health Physician, Dr. Oscar Mari John Estiller.
These milestones not only provide essential support services closer to the grassroots, but render a significant leap towards the long-term goal of providing elevated and sustainable services, equitably accessible for all. (DOH5/MJCLB)
