Iriga: DOH Bicol advocates renal care, CKD prevention on National Kidney Month celebration

In celebration of the National Kidney Month, the Department of Health Bicol Center for Health Development (DOH Bicol CHD), in partnership with the Philippine Society of Nephrology Bicol Chapter, spearheaded the National Kidney Month Symposium on June 27, 2024 at La Roca Veranda Suites, Legazpi City.

Anchored on the theme “Malusog na Bato, Abot Kamay ng Bawat Pilipino,” Dr. Rodolfo Antonio Albornoz, OIC-Regional Director of DOH Bicol, stressed the importance of raising awareness about the risks of kidney disease, encouraging early diagnosis, and promoting healthy lifestyle habits to prevent and manage the condition. Dr. Albornoz also emphasized the services and support provided by DOH Bicol, underscoring the importance of prevention and early diagnosis.

He added in his speech that the PhilHealth increased its dialysis benefit package from P2,600 to P4,000 and an increase in coverage for outpatient hemodialysis from 90 sessions to 156 sessions annually.
