The Department of Education (DepEd) Region V launched the CY 2024 Brigada Eskwela and Oplan Balik Eskwela Desk on July 19, 2024, at Zeferino Arroyo High School in San Agustin, Iriga City. The event, themed “Bayanihan para sa Matatag na Paaralan,” brought together educators from across Region V to prepare schools for the upcoming academic year. Brigada Eskwela emphasizes community involvement in school maintenance to ensure a conducive learning environment, while the Oplan Balik Eskwela Desk addresses enrollment and school opening concerns.
Mayor Rex C. Oliva welcomed representatives from 13 school divisions across Region V, underscoring the significance of collective efforts in education. He highlighted the contributions of the local government unit (LGU) of Iriga, such as the Special Education Fund (SEF) allocated to all public primary and secondary schools, along with cleaning programs and structural maintenance. These efforts aim to provide a safe and conducive learning environment for students, fostering a brighter future. Mayor Rex Oliva commended the community’s dedication and urged continued support for educational initiatives, stressing that collaboration is essential for building resilient and thriving educational institutions.
