Iriga: DENR Bicol holds 2nd Quarter Management Conference

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Bicol headed by Regional Executive Director Francisco E. Milla, Jr., CESO III has laid down the ground for intensified implementation of environmental plans and programs following the 2nd Quarter Management Conference held on July 3-5, 2024 at the Beatriz Rafaela Resort, Barangay Panubigan, Balud, Masbate.

Municipal Mayor Rodolfo O. Estrella Jr. of Balud, Masbate welcomed the DENR Bicol key officials and personnel and extended the heartfelt gratitude of the entire community of Balud for choosing the town as the venue for the conference. “The DENR, through the implementation of Rapid Land Tenure Assessment (RLTA) in our municipality, has been instrumental in addressing land tenure concerns that will pave the way for increased community progress,” Mayor Estrella said.

Likewise, Balud Municipal Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office Chief Aida Beruño expressed their gratitude for the DENR’s recognition of Balud’s natural beauty, highlighted by their pristine white sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, and beautiful sunset.

OIC, PENR Officer of Masbate Forester Benito B. Salazar during his message said that the management conference will provide a platform for sharing best practices, addressing challenges, and fostering collaboration among DENR and partner stakeholders.

Governor Antonio T. Kho of the Province of Masbate, represented by Assistant Provincial Administrator Ramon A. Diamos, said that hosting the ManCon in Masbate not only enhances their tourism visibility but also underscores Balud’s potential as a thriving destination for environmental initiatives.

“We believe that this collaboration will further strengthen our partnership and pave the way for future endeavors that promote sustainable tourism and environmental conservation in our municipality,” he added.

Moreover, RED Milla said that the management conference serves as a crucial avenue for us to reflect on our achievements, strategize for the succeeding quarters, and strengthen our commitment to environmental stewardship.

“We have already made significant strides in sustainable resource management, biodiversity conservation, and community engagement, therefore, we have to continually make a positive impact on our environment and the communities we serve,” he explained.

The activity was participated in by the Regional Directors from Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) and Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), Assistant Regional Directors (ARDs), Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer (PENROs), Community Environment and Natural Resources Officer (CENROs), and Regional Division Chiefs.

The 2nd Regional Management Conference highlighted the status and accomplishments of each Field Office in DENR Bicol. Issues and concerns were discussed and addressed. From then, strategic planning were drawn out from the participants to continuously implement the plans and programs.
