Iriga City has once again proven its athletic excellence on the national stage as Xian Keith Bondal Barredo, a Grade 6 pupil from Iriga Central School, clinched the gold medal in the Elementary Boys Javelin Throw at the recently concluded Palarong Pambansa 2025, held in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.

Representing the Bicol Vulcans Delegation, Barredo delivered a stellar performance with a 52-meter throw, outclassing his closest competitor who managed 50 meters. While his winning distance fell just 8 meters short of the current Palarong Pambansa record, it was more than enough to secure the top podium finish and bring immense pride to the Bicol region — and especially to Iriga City.

Barredo, who is also the reigning Palarong Bicol gold medalist, was coached by Richard L. Guanzon and Assistant Coach Dexter S. Mariscotes, whose mentorship and training were instrumental in the young athlete’s outstanding achievement. His victory stands as one of the most inspiring highlights of this year’s games — a story of determination, discipline, and regional pride.

The City Government of Iriga, under the leadership of Mayor Rex C. Oliva, extends its warmest congratulations to Xian Keith B. Barredo for his remarkable feat. His triumph not only brings honor to Iriga but also serves as an inspiration to young Irigueños to strive for excellence in sports and beyond. A true Batang Irigueño, Xian embodies the spirit of determination, discipline, and pride that defines Iriga City’s rising athletes.
