Iriga City winds 2024 Lunsod Lunsad Award: Receives 1.7M grant from DTI

Iriga City has added another feather to its cap by being recognized as one of the awardees of Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) 2024 Lunsod Lunsad Program during its awarding ceremony today, August 6, at the Philippines Trade Training Center, Pasay City.

Iriga City is one of only three cities from Bicol Region to be selected for this recognition, alongside Legazpi City and Masbate City.

The city’s proposal, “LUNSOD LUNSAD PAGSASALIKSIK: An Extensive Research and Capability Development Training on Local Awareness and Promotion of Iriga City’s Intangible Heritage Thrusts,” was awarded with a PHP 1.7 million grant. This project was selected for its focus on creativity and innovation, aiming to promote and preserve the rich cultural heritage of Iriga City through comprehensive research and capability-building initiatives.

Representing Iriga City at the event were Engr. Nona Vanessa M. Santiago, Acting City Tourism Officer, together Ailyn Alferez and DTI Regional Director Dindo Nabol. They received the award on behalf of City Mayor Wilfredo Rex Oliva.

The awarded grant will fund various activities under the project, including in-depth research, training programs, and awareness campaigns designed to highlight and preserve Iriga City’s unique cultural assets.
