The City Government of Iriga, in partnership with the Department of Education – Iriga City Division and PhilHealth, successfully launched the PhilHealth Konsulta Package today at Don Lazaro Madara Memorial School in Ilian, San Nicolas. The school was chosen as the pilot site for its prioritization of Indigenous Peoples (IP) learners, ensuring that vulnerable students have equitable access to essential health services. Present at the launch were Mayor Rex C. Oliva, Dr. Arnel Sacay, DLMMS Principal, PhilHealth Express–Nabua representative Ms. Celeste B. Bonita, City Health Officer Dr. Ronald G. Building on the Memorandum of Agreement signed on November 4, 2025, between the City Government and DepEd Iriga, the rollout integrates the PhilHealth Konsulta Package into public schools. This initiative provides accessible primary healthcare services to both students and school personnel, reducing barriers to care and ensuring a healthier school community.

During the program, DLMMS Principal, Dr. Arnel Sacay representing SDS Dr. Brioso expressed appreciation for the City Government’s commitment to supporting the health needs of learners and school staff. He emphasized that this initiative not only improves healthcare access but also contributes to the overall well-being of students.

In his message, Mayor Rex reaffirmed the LGU’s dedication to delivering essential health services. He highlighted the connection of the Konsulta rollout to the City’s broader health efforts, including the YAKAP Program, which brings healthcare services closer to underserved communities.

Ms. Bonita provided an overview of the YAKAP Program, explaining its role in expanding access to preventive and primary care. The program concluded with Dr. Salcedo, who encouraged the school community to take full advantage of the services being offered.

As part of the day’s activities, the City Health Office provided a full range of services, including PhilHealth registration, medical consultations, and the distribution of free medicines and vitamins to students and school personnel.

The rollout of the PhilHealth Konsulta Package represents a significant milestone in advancing equitable healthcare delivery within Iriga City. Following the successful pilot at Don Lazaro Madara Memorial School, the program will expand to additional public schools across the city, furthering the City’s vision of creating a healthier, more inclusive community for all Irigueños
