In a proactive effort to strengthen community disaster preparedness, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), led by Ms. Jasmin B. Botor, conducted a 2-Day Flood Response Planning and Workshop on July 21–22, 2025, at the CDRRMO Multi-Purpose Covered Court.

The activity served as a pilot test for the Flood Response Planning and Workshop module, marking the first time Iriga City will have a comprehensive flood response plan tailored for its barangays. Seven flood-prone barangays participated: Sta. Cruz Sur, Francia, San Francisco, San Miguel, San Jose, San Roque, and La Purisima. Each barangay was represented by their BDRRMC Chairperson, Barangay Kagawads on DRRM and Peace and Order, Barangay Secretary, SK President, BHWs, BMS, Chief Tanods, and Tanods.

On Day 1, participants were oriented on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM), humanitarian standards, and the rights of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). Sessions also included an introduction to Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM), the roles of key actors, and DROMIC reporting.

Day 2 focused on practical planning. Barangays presented their formulated DRRM structures, reviewed the Family Preparedness Protocol, and identified evacuation centers and safe houses. The workshop culminated in a flood response drill to simulate real-time coordination during the various phases of flooding.

This initiative reflects Iriga City’s commitment to inclusive and community-driven disaster planning, empowering local leaders to act swiftly and effectively during flood emergencies.
