In observance of the 18th Global Warming and Climate Change Consciousness Week with the theme “Makabagong Kilusan para sa Klima at Kinabukasan” the DA Bicol – Adaptation and Mitigation Initiative in Agriculture (AMIA) Program participated in a Tree Planting activity on November 17, 2025 together with Joroan Farmers and Fisherfolk Association of Tiwi, Albay, Tampadong Agrarian Reform of Pamplona, Camarines Sur, Alas Farmers Agriculture Cooperative of Mandaon, Masbate and Purok Palayan Dinapa Farmers Association of Castilla, Sorsogon.
In addition, the Inauguration and Turn-over Ceremony of the Multi-Commodity Processing Facility was also conducted in Brgy. Alas, Mandaon, Masbate last November 19, 2025. The activity was also attended by the Local Government Unit of Mandaon – Municipal Agriculture Office, Agriculture Program Coordinating Office, Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, DEBESMCAT, DA RFO 5 AMIA, Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation, DOST PAGASA Masbate Synoptic Station, Integrated Rural Development Foundation, Barangay Local Government Unit, Alas Farmers Agriculture Cooperative, AMIA Farmer Beneficiaries from San Mateo Farmers Association and Quezon Small Farmers Association.
The processing facility will help farmers adapt to the increasing challenges of climate change while creating opportunities for the farmers to increase their livelihood.
