The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Bicol showed full support to the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) 5 through the Regional Plan Advocacy Committee (RPAC), which spearheaded the Bicol Regional Development Program (BRDP) 2023-2028 Sorsogon Provincial Roadshow on June 26, 2024 at the Sorsogon Provincial Gymnasium.

The BRDP 2023-2028 is an initiative that aligns the Bicol Regional Development Plan with the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028 and the AmBisyon Natin 2040 vision. This program aims to foster a deeper understanding among the public about the development goals and strategies for the Bicol region.

The event was participated in by various National Government Agencies (NGA), Local Government Unit (LGU) executives and employees, Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) officials, media practitioners, and other stakeholders.

In her message, Assistant Regional Director for Special Concerns (ARD-SC) Adona P. San Diego highlighted the importance of the initiative. “This roadshow is crucial in ensuring that our development plans are well understood and supported by all sectors of society, paving the way for a brighter future for the Bicol region,” said ARD San Diego.

Sorsogon is the fourth province in the series of provincial roadshows, following successful events in Albay, Camarines Norte, and Catanduanes. With the theme, “Sararo Sarabay Pasiring sa Marhay na Buhay,” the Bicol RDP Provincial Roadshows aim to bring the BRDP 2023–2028 and AmBisyon Natin 2040 closer to the Bicolanos, fostering greater commitment and participation and strengthening partnerships towards a “Matatag, Maginhawa, at Panatag na Buhay para sa Lahat.”

The DENR Bicol Regional Executive Director (RED) Francisco E. Milla, Jr. underscores the value of community engagement in the success of the program. “Community involvement is vital to the success of our regional development efforts. By working together, we can ensure that our initiatives are inclusive and responsive to the needs of our people,” RED Milla said.
