As part of the ongoing five-day celebration of National Youth Day (NYD) Caceres 2025, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 5 (BFAR 5) hosted a half-day immersion and orientation on June 13 for 69 young delegates from Redemption Youth Ministry, representing various provinces and cities across the country. The activity was held upon the request of the St. John of the Cross Parish.

The activity aimed to raise awareness among the youth about the importance of sustainable fisheries, marine resource conservation, and environmental stewardship. It provided participants with an understanding of BFAR’s programs and their role in protecting the country’s aquatic resources.

Through presentations and interactive sessions, BFAR 5 highlighted key initiatives including coastal resource management, aquaculture development, community livelihood support, and the enforcement of fisheries regulations. The immersion also underscored the relevance of youth engagement in addressing pressing environmental challenges, such as overfishing, pollution, and climate change.

The orientation was designed not only to inform but also to inspire the young delegates to become advocates of responsible resource use and active participants in conservation efforts within their communities.

The Redemption Youth Ministry’s visit to BFAR 5 facilities is among several engagements lined up for NYD Caceres 2025, a major church event that brought together young Catholics from across the country in celebration of faith, service, and mission.
