A total of 651 kilograms of assorted fish, with an estimated market value of Php 35,800, were disposed of through donation to various charitable institutions in Albay and Camarines Sur.
The fish were confiscated following a recent seaborne enforcement operation conducted within the municipal waters of Siruma, Camarines Sur. The BFAR 5 Fisheries Management Regulatory and Enforcement Division (FMRED) distributed the confiscated catch of espada, sapsap, damos, bisugo, pusit,balila and matambaka to the following charitable institutions:
– Holy Cross Children Home Inc.,San Antonio, Tabaco City
– Harong Kan Sagrada Familia, Bogtong-Legazpi City
– Redemptoristine Monastery, Gogon, Legazpi City
– Our lady of Mount Carmel Monastery, Concepcion, Naga City
– Missionaries of the Poor, Cararayan, Naga City
– Queen of Peace Children’s Home and Formation Center, Pacol, Naga City
– Naga City Children’s Home
– Children Rehabilitation Center, Pacol, Naga City
– The Foundation of Our Lady of Fatima Center for Human Development, San Agustin, Iriga City
In accordance with Section 105 of the Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998 (Republic Act No. 8550), as amended by RA 10654, confiscated fishery products deemed safe for human consumption must be donated to charitable institutions and/or used for relief efforts. This ensures that fish seized from illegal activities are not wasted and are instead channeled to benefit communities in need.
