The Albay Provincial Human Settlement Office conducted a site inspection with families affected by the ongoing unrest of Mayon Volcano in barangays Calbayog, San Roque, and San Jose in Malilipot.
The activity, led by Acting Department Head Engr. Karen B. Olayres, J.D., aimed to directly assess the situation of displaced residents and determine their immediate needs amid continued volcanic activity.
The office coordinated with the Local Government Unit of Malilipot and Barangay Calbayog Captain Gilbert Bolaños to review the status of evacuees, assistance already provided, and the number of families that may be affected if Mayon’s activity intensifies.
Data showed that 408 families, or 1,487 individuals, from the three barangays are currently staying in evacuation centers.
The inspection also served to validate records and ensure that planned interventions reflect actual conditions on the ground.
Out of the total displaced families, 101 have been selected and allocated housing units under the National Housing Authority Housing Project Malilipot Ville-1.
These families are now completing and submitting documentary requirements in preparation for their transfer to permanent housing.
The Provincial Government of Albay said it continues to prioritize safe, organized, and sustainable housing solutions for communities affected by the Mayon Volcano unrest.
