Iriga City rolled out a three-day Anti-Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and VIDI Orientation Seminar-Workshop from November 25 to 27, 2025, gathering frontline protectors and partner agencies for an intensive capacity-building program.
The seminar brought together participants from the PNP within the Rinconada Area, M/CSWDOs across the Rinconada Area, and the Iriga City VAWC Desk Federation, all unified by a single mission-to strengthen child protection in both on-ground and digital environments.
Spearheaded by the City Government of Iriga through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), in partnership with the Office of the City Prosecutor of Iriga, the activity highlighted the city’s collaborative approach to addressing online exploitation and violence against children. Mayor Rex Oliva and Vice Mayor Edsel Dimaiwat expressed full support for the initiative, underscoring its importance in the city’s broader child welfare agenda.
Day 1 opened with preliminaries, setting the tone for three days of focused learning. Prosecutor Charmaine Pares led the discussion on the Salient Features of RA 11930, the Anti-OSAEC and Anti- CSAEM Act, providing participants with updated legal guidance.
Technical experts including Prosecutor Roberto M. Jocom Jr., PCPT Angelo A. Babagay, PNP Cybercrime Unit delivered sessions on identifying red-flag indicators, handling OSAEC-related evidence, cybercrime rrants, and digital case-building. Workshop activities further enhanced participants’ practical skills, ensuring they are equipped to detect, document, and respond effectively to cases of online exploitation.
Held in connection with the 33rd National Children’s Month Celebration and the 18-Day Campaign to End VAW 2025, the seminar-workshop reaffirmed Iriga City’s unwavering commitment to protecting children-whether online, offline, or anywhere in between.
