The province of Albay has secured a spot among 41 other provinces nationwide, garnering the coveted Seal of Good Local Governance 2024 Award.
After a seven-year hiatus, Albay has regained the award, showcasing its continuous efforts in achieving one of the most prestigious honors for local government units (LGUs) in the country.
The SGLG program serves as an honor, incentive, reward, and recognition system for LGUs, representing their commitment to advancing and enhancing performance.
Last September, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) evaluators endorsed Albay as a national passer for its commendable practices based on 10 key indicators: Financial Administration and Sustainability, Disaster Preparedness, Social Protection and Sensitivity, Health Compliance and Responsiveness, Sustainable Education, Business Friendliness and Competitiveness, Safety, Peace, and Order, Environmental Management, Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture, and the Arts Youth Development.
Additionally, the cities of Tabaco, Ligao, and Legazpi, along with the municipalities of Camalig, Daraga, and Polangui, have been named 2024 City SGLG Awardees.
These LGUs are entitled to access the SGLG Incentive Funds to support local development initiatives aligned with national goals and strategic thrusts.
