The Provincial Composite Lahar Management Committee has approved the desilting requests from Guinobatan, Albay last March 6, 2024.
A special meeting was conducted at the Provincial Engineer’s Office to discuss the said requests, with Engr. Dante Baclao (PEO), Ms. Teresa Atos (PENRO), Ret. Judge Jose Rubio (PLO), Mr. Eugene Escobar (APSEMO), and representatives from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Department of Environment and National Resources (DENR) in attendance.
Following extensive discussions in the meeting, a motion was proposed to approve the requests for Brgy. Minto, Lower Binigsacan, and Muladbucad Grande, which received a second from the assembly.
Desilting plays a vital role in enhancing the natural capacity of a river by clearing debris and sediments from its bed.
