Senator Lito Lapid was officially declared an “Adopted Son of Iriga City” in a special ceremony at the Iriga City Sports Center in Sta. Cruz Sur. At the event, held on October 16, 2024, the Sangguniang Panglungsod presented Lapid with Resolution No. 2024-566, honoring his significant contributions to the city’s socioeconomic development, particularly his efforts to uplift Indigenous Peoples and marginalized groups.

The awarding was led by Mr. Uno N. Oliva, son of Mayor Rex Oliva, alongside members of the Sangguniang Panglungsod, including councilors Nikki Lagrimas, Jeff Tino, JM Grimaldo, Dandreb Abonite, Melnan Murallo-Asanza, Jessie Abonite, and Boboy Guevara, as well as Sangguniang Kabataan President Dessa Mare Lontayao and Mr. Jor-el Caayao. Their collective support underscored the local government’s appreciation for Senator Lapidโ€™s programs aimed at addressing the needs of Iriga Cityโ€™s vulnerable sectors.

In his speech, Senator Lapid expressed his heartfelt thanks for the recognition and reiterated his commitment to continuing his advocacy for the cityโ€™s marginalized communities. His long-standing efforts to improve the welfare of Indigenous Peoples and those in crisis have left a lasting impact on Iriga City, further strengthening his ties to the local community.
