HNP confirms Sara’s resignation from party

DAVAO CITY – Sara Duterte-Duterte is officially resigned from the Hugpong ng Pagbabago.

Davao del Norte Gov. Anthony del Rosario, who also served as HNP spokeman, told Businessmirror on Thursday that Dutere-Carpio sent a scanned handwritten note in two paragraphs to the headquarters of the HNP. The resignation letter was received as an email at 9:30 am.

Del Rosario said the resignation surprised him although he said he kept tract of online discussion about the Davao City mayor taking the likely Presidential route though the Lakas-CMD vehicle.

Del Rosario cautioned however, that “everything is not confirmed”.

He also admitted that HNP was surprised with the mayor’s withdrawal of her certificate of candidacy for the mayoral post in Davao City on November 9 and even in the weeks prior to that. He said he spoke to Duterte-Carpio on October 8 when he was told that the latter would run for mayor. He said he followed this up a few days later when he was told again that she was sticking to the mayoral candidacy.

“I was surprised,” he said.

He said he already informed the members of the HNP and it was expected to convene anytime. Duterte-Carpio is the chairman of the HNP.
