Davao City – Troops under 67IB organized into composite teams encountered members of Weakened GF25 at Sitio Bitangon, Brgy Aliwagwag, Cateel, Davao Oriental at around 3:00 o’ clock in the morning of January 20, 2019.
Troops under 1LT AL BRYAN L VILLANUEVA (QMS) PA encountered more or less twenty (20) CPP-NPA Terrorist (CNTs) believed to be members of Weakened Guerilla Front Twenty Five (WGF25) at vicinity of Pangitgan Sitio Bitangon, Brgy Aliwagwag, Cateel, DOR. Firefight lasted about 40 minutes and enemy scampered towards different directions. The troops were able to recover in the encounter site the following, three (3) AK47 assault rifle, two (2) M16 Rifle, one (1) upper receiver of M16 Rifle, four (4) landmines w/ wire, two (2) cellphones, medical paraphernalia’s, backpacks and enemy subversive documents. Operating troops of 67IB were inserted in the vicinity of the site to pursuit the fleeing enemy.
LTC JACOB THADDEUS M OBLIGADO, Commander of 67th Infantry Battalion commended the troops for a job well-done. “We will continue with our focused military operations to ensure the safety of the populace. The 67IB as your partners of Peace and Development will remain steadfast in the performance of our duty with the support of the Local Government Unit of the Province of Davao Oriental. We will maintain zero NPA Initiated Violent Incidents (NIVIs) and zero recruitment in our whole area of responsibility” – LTC OBLIGADO said.
COL MANUEL V SEQUITIN, 701st Brigade Commander lauded the operating troops for their commendable performance. He further encouraged the populace to continue supporting the troops and help in the campaign against the CPP-NPA-NDF terrorist in order to establish a peaceful and conflict resilient communities.
Meanwhile, MGEN JOSE C FAUSTINO JR AFP, Commander 10ID also lauded troops’ accomplishments and said, “with people’s support and troops’ commitment to duty, the region and the whole of 10ID area of responsibility experienced continuous relatively peaceful environment.”
“The 67th Infantry (Agila) Battalion will remain competent and dedicated to its mission in establishing Peaceful and Conflict Resilient Communities in the area of responsibility. Altogether we will protect the community and create a peaceful environment conducive to sustainable development“- LTC OBLIGADO added.
