“We are so proud of you for reaching the finish line. As your valedictorian said, may we remain humble, grateful, and hungry for the opportunities ahead. I know you will continue to make us all proud at PGIN, and we can’t wait to see how you will thrive into the future,” Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc remarked during the Recognition Ceremony of the “Sirmata Provincial Learners Scholars” of Batch 2024 at the Imelda Cultural Center in Batac City, yesterday.

This academic year, among the 193 graduates, six (6) achieved magna cum laude honors, while 54 received cum laude honors. The graduating group is composed of one (1) Juris Doctor scholar, four (4) Doctor of Medicine scholars, 100 Sirib Youth Leaders scholars, 25 Agriculture-Fisheries scholars, and 63 academic scholars.

Governor Marcos Manotoc also acknowledged the Ilocos Norte Youth Development Office and Provincial Education Office for their initiative in organizing these programs, underscoring the province’s steadfast commitment to nurturing and supporting its youth across diverse fields, from law and medicine to agriculture and leadership.

Sheryl Anne Benigno, magna cum laude graduate from Mariano Marcos State University and valedictorian of the Sirmata Provincial Learners Scholars, expressed her appreciation to PGIN, saying, “Your commitment to serve has paved the way for countless opportunities, empowering us to achieve our dreams. Through your generous support and tireless efforts, you have provided us with the resources and encouragement needed to excel academically and grow personally.”

In 2020, through the initiative of Governor Marcos Manotoc, the Ilocos Norte Provincial Board institutionalized the “Sirmata Provincial Learner Scholarship,” consolidating all scholarship programs of the Provincial Government. (Mariell J. Pahinag)
