Alabel, Sarangani Province – Mayor Vic Paul M. Salarda, MPA, personally extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Department of Education (DepEd) – Alabel, including both public and private schools, for their outstanding participation in the Sarangani Provincial Athletic Association (SPAA) Meet 2025 held from January 23 to 26 in Glan, Sarangani.
Alabel emerged as the overall champion of this year’s SPAA Meet, securing an impressive total of 244 medals—117 gold, 67 silver, and 60 bronze—surpassing Glan and Kiamba, which placed second and third, respectively.
During a courtesy visit, Principal-in-Charge of Alabel 1 District, Ferdinand Simon, presented a Plaque of Appreciation to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Alabel in appreciation of its unwavering support for student-athletes and the development of sports in the municipality.
Mayor Salarda was joined by members of the 14th Sangguniang Bayan of Alabel, including Municipal Councilors Hon. Joel Aton, Hon. Ferdinand Rey Flores, Hon. Paul Villamora, and Hon. Bonifacio “Nonoy” Pacquiao, in celebrating this remarkable achievement.
The mayor also took the opportunity to commend and express gratitude to the dedicated workforce of the LGU, particularly the Education Support Program and the BLT Kitchen team, for their tireless efforts in assisting student-athletes and coaches throughout the week-long event, especially in food preparation and logistical support.
With Alabel’s dominance in the SPAA Meet, qualified athletes are now set to compete in the SOCCSKSARGEN Regional Athletic Association (SRAA) Meet, which will take place in Koronadal City, the capital of South Cotabato.
The SRAA Meet 2025 will gather top student-athletes from Region 12 for another week-long showcase of sports excellence.
Mayor Salarda reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering sports development and supporting young athletes in their pursuit of excellence, ensuring that Alabel continues to shine in regional and national sporting events.
