JPS Zamboanga City returned to its winning ways, nipping MisOr, 85-75, in the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup on Monday at Pagadian City Gymnasium in Zamboanga del Sur.

JPS used a huge third quarter to enter the final quarter ahead by 14 points—dropping 26 big points while holding the Brew Authoritea to only 16, 74-60.

But Reil Cervantes’s basket at the one minute and 33 seconds mark of the payoff period capped a 15-5 blast as MisOr came to within 75-79.

Big men Jerwin Gaco and Gabby Espinas, however, connived for a 5-0 run—a layup and a three-pointer—to seal the win for Zamboanga City.

“After our loss yesterday, Jerwin talked to the team to lift their spirits,” JPS Zamboanga head coach Tony Pardo said.

A buzzer-beater gave Zamboanga City a deflating 69-71 loss to Roxas on Sunday.

“He really led by example today,” Pardo said.

Gaco continued his fine play, producing 24 points on 11-of-16 shooting from the field. He also had 12 rebounds as JPS hiked its win-loss card to 3-2.

Espinas also delivered a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds, alongside four assists and a block.

Also in double figures were Aaron Jeruta, Med Salim and Fran Yu. They combined for 32 points.

JPS lorded it over the paint, tallying more than half of their total points with 46. MisOr only managed 28.

Joseph Sedurifa had 16 points, five rebounds  and four assists for the Brew Authorites, who dropped to 2-2 won-lost.

Ronjay Buenafe and Mac Baracael, who exploded for 58 combined points the other night, were limited to nine and 10 points, respectively.

MisOr will cap off its three-game swing against Pagadian City at 2 p.m. on Tuesday. JPS, which just finished its own streak of games, will resume play at 2 p.m. on Friday against Iligan City.
