Researchers from Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC), in collaboration with BFAR 5 and the Local Government of Buhi, conducted a production-based research project titled “Create, Collaborate, Communicate: Development of Complementary Educational Materials for Livelihood Training Programs of Fisherfolk in Buhi, Camarines Sur.”

The project aimed to develop clear and practical educational materials for livelihood training programs benefiting 23 members of the Tilapyang Buhinon Organization. As part of the initiative, a training session was conducted on January 30, 2025 at Salvacion, Buhi, Camarines Sur.

Resource speakers from the Regional Fisheries Training and Fisherfolk Coordination Division (RFTFCD) conducted lectures and discussions on proper fish handling, followed by hands-on demonstrations on preparing fish longganisa and tilanggit.

After product presentations and simple product costing, researchers presented their Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials. These materials contained comprehensive information about the training, including ingredients list, product procedures and contact details.

The IEC materials are designed to equip fisherfolk with essential skills, knowledge, and opportunities to enhance their livelihoods. To evaluate their impact, researchers will conduct ongoing monitoring and assessment of each recipient.
