Firearm Confiscated In Buenavista Raid; One Suspect Nab

Camp Col. Rafael C. Rodriguez, Butuan City – The Police Regional Office 13 operatives arrested one individual and confiscated one firearm yesterday (July 1), as part of strengthening the intensified campaign on loose firearm regionwide.

PNP Caraga Director, POLICE BRIGADIER GENERAL ROMEO M. CARAMAT, JR., revealed the operation from joint personnel of Buenavista Municipal Police Station (MPS), and 1st Agusan del Norte Provincial Mobile Force Company bagged down one Benjamin G. Ugay, 68 years old, around 10:00 PM from his residence.

With the implementation of Search Warrant issued by Municipal Trial Court, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte for violation of Republic Act No. 10591 or the Comprehensive Law of Firearms and Ammunition, authorities confiscated one Caliber .357 Smith and Wesson revolver; five rounds ammunition, one inside holster, a back pack and one empty shell of Caliber .357 in the operation.

The suspect was placed under surveillance upon receipt of report coming from a concerned citizen for possessing such firearm with no pertinent and legal documents.

“This accomplishment is another proof that with the public’s support and cooperation in the anti-criminality campaign of the police, we will truly attain a safer and better place to live,” RD CARAMAT, JR. said.
