Six persons, including a minor, were arrested in separate illegal drug operations in the past days in Bacolod, the city police reported. The four operations conducted recently led to the confiscation of P328,000 worth of suspected shabu.
Senior Supt. Henry Biñas, officer-in-charge of Bacolod City Police Office, said the arrests are part of the city police’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs. “With the forthcoming elections, the Bacolod Police is heightening its efforts against all forms of criminality,” he added.
At about 10: 55 p.m. on Monday, suspects John Java, 39, and Ronnie Barena, 29, were arrested by operatives of Police Station 7 in Barangay Alijis after selling shabu worth P500 to a poseur-buyer. The two yielded five sachets of the prohibited substance valued at P64,000 and a black revolver loaded with four live ammunition.
On the same day, Ralph Daniel Monte, 32, was caught selling P500 worth of shabu to an undercover policeman at Villa Servando, Barangay Singcang-Airport. Operatives of Police Station 8 seized from Monte three sachets of shabu with an estimated value of P40,000.
On Tuesday, a 17-year-old boy was arrested by personnel of Police Station 2 in Purok Lampirong, Barangay 2 at about 12:15 a.m. The minor sold a sachet of shabu worth P200 to a poseur-buyer and also yielded five more sachets containing the same substance valued at P24,000.
The suspect was referred by the police to the Social Development Center. At about 5:15 a.m., Harold Hubierna, 39, a newly-identified drug personality, was apprehended by operatives of Police Station 3 after he sold shabu to an undercover policeman.
In the biggest haul of the day, Beatrice Ana Marie Suarez, 31, was arrested in Barangay Taculing after she yielded six sachets of shabu with an estimated value of P200,000. Before her arrest, she sold P1,000 worth of the prohibited substance to a poseur-buyer. (Nanette Guadalquiver, NDB)
