A total of 250 overseas home-bound overseas Filipino workers (OFW) from Kuwait, who will be repatriated this week, will get financial assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

In a news statement, Labor Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III said the OFWs are scheduled to arrive on Tuesday afternoon via flight QR 932, which was arranged by the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Kuwait.

Of the said repatriated OFWs, 80 are from the Migrant Workers Overseas Filipino Resource Center  in Kuwait, while the remaining 170 are domestic and company workers.

“These workers have either finished their contracts or have expiring exit visas and are victims of various employment contract-related violations,” Bello said.

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) paid for the plane tickets of 50 of the said OFWs, while rest had their airfare paid by their respective employment agencies.

Bello assured the government would assist all the repatriated OFWs so they could comply with quarantine protocols upon their arrival.

“We will also have them tested for Covid at the expense of the government as part of the standard operating procedure to comply with safety and health protocols,” Bello said.

The labor chief said they would also be provided with quarantine accommodation and transport services for their journey back to their respective families or places of origin.
