DOLE and Zamboanga LGU acknowledges labor sector

Mayor John Dalipe recognizes the crucial role of the labor sector in the city’s progress and development, as he joined the Department of Labor and Employment and other agencies in kicking off ceremonies for the 121st Labor Day celebration held at the KCC Mall in Gov. Camins Monday morning, May 1.

Themed “Pabahay, Bilihing Abot Preshow, Benepisyo ng Matatag na Trabaho Para sa Manggagawang Pilipino”, the Labor Day celebration was highlighted by the signing of the memorandum of agreement (MOA) by the DOLE and Mayor Dalipe for Jobstart Philippines, a program aimed to further improve employment facilitation services, the turnover of starter school kits by TESDA to beneficiaries and the day-long job fair making available thousands of job opportunities to local residents.

Celebrating his first Labor Day as Chief Executive, Dalipe exhorted all agencies concerned to continue working together to attain a strong and sustainable labor force and to advocate for the rights and welfare of the workers and ensure that they are treated with dignity and respect that they deserve. “Let us use this Labor day celebration as a reminder of our commitment to our workers and our nation. Let us celebrate their contributions and continue to work towards a brighter future for all.”

DOLE-9 Regional Director Albert Gutib, meanwhile acknowledged the support of the City Government through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and all partner government agencies in the implementation of programs intended to benefit the labor sector in this part of the country. He likewise honored the greatness and contributions of the labor sector in nation building.

Also present during the Labor Day kick off ceremonies were Councilors Cari John Pioc and Jerome Santos, RTIP Employer sector representative Engr. Jaydrick Yap, RTIP Vice chairperson for Labor Dr. Nelly Suan, TESDA-ZC District Director Omarkhayyam Dalagan, DOLE-9 Assistant Regional Director Imelda Gatinao, Metro Stonerich Corporation Vice President Engr. Marjorie Prado and numerous others.
