During the Zamboanga del Norte Protected Area Network Showcase Exhibit the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region IX through its Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) ZDN headed by the PENR Officer Cidur Julsadjiri hosted the Zamboanga del Norte Protected Area Network Showcase Exhibit in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Norte early this morning March 1, 2023 at City Mall, Dipolog City.
As Zamboanga del Norte has been blessed with rich biodiversity, the exhibit showcased the five (5) declared Protected Areas (PAs) of the province composed of Aliguay Island Protected Landscape and Seascape (AIPLS),Selinog Island Protected Landscape and Seascape (SIPLS), Jose Rizal Memorial Protected Landscape (JRMPL), Murcielagos Islands Protected Landscape and Seascape (MIPLS), and Siocon Resource Reserve (SRR).
The event was graced by Department of Tourism Undersecretary Myra Paz Valderrosa Abubakar together with Provincial Administrator Atty. Dug Christopher Mah, PEM Officer Atty. Evince C. Columnas, OIC- Provincial Tourism Office Philetta A. Tiempo, CENR Officers of Piñan, Manukan, Liloy and Siocon and Protected Area Superintendents of the five protected areas.
The exhibit promotes conservation, protection, and promotion of the protected areas through the involvement of local communities and community-based initiatives in the province.
The event also highlights the celebration of World Wildlife Day with the theme ” Partnerships for Wildlife Conservation”.
