Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte has cautioned Dabawenyos against expecting a different situation under a General Community Quarantine (GCQ), saying “measures limiting movements are possible”.

If Davao City undergoes GCQ, people must remember that there are still limitations when it comes to movements, Mayor Sara said in an interview with the Davao City Disaster Radio on Monday.

“Kung makita ninyo didto [sa guidelines], limitado gihapon. Basig mag-andam na ang mga tao sa ilahang party sa pag balik nato sa GCQ (If you read the guidelines, it’s still limited. People may be preparing for their parties when we go back to GCQ),” she said referring to the Omnibus Guidelines on the Implementation of Community Quarantine issued by the national government’s Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).

“For the advance information for everyone, please read the IATF omnibus guidelines, kay most of these, mao gihapon ang atong gamiton kung sugtan ta sa National Government nga mag GCQ (For the advance information of everyone, please read IATF omnibus guidelines because most of these will be implemented in the city if the National Government allows us to undergo GCQ),” she said.

Section 3, No.2 of the IATF Omnibus Guidelines states “Under the GCQ, movement of all persons shall be limited to accessing essential goods and services, and for work in the offices or industries permitted to operate. Movement for leisure purposes is not allowed.”

Mayor Sara added that under GCQ some establishments in the City will be open, and jeepneys will also operate.

Currently, Davao City remains under an Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) with stringent lockdown measures. CIO
