Davao del Sur – A total of ₱ 160 million funds for the Barangay Development Program has been extended to the province of Davao del Sur to benefit eight barangays from Digos City and from the municipalities of Matanao, Bansalan and Sta. Cruz.

The ₱ 120 million has already been downloaded in March this year to the account of the provincial government of Davao del Sur for the recipient barangays of the three municipalities.

Foramel Aguilar Sabio, the assistant provincial planning and development coordinator of the local government of Davao del Sur, bared this during Friday’s “Gobyernong Balitaan” radio program with PIA Davao del Sur/Davao Occidental.

Sabio said that the ₱ 40 million fund was directly downloaded to the City Government of Digos which will implement projects on potable water systems and upgrading of local access roads for Barangay Goma and Barangay Balabag.

In Matanao, Brgy. Asbang and Brgy. Colonsabak have identified the following projects: upgrading of access roads, seed capital for livelihood projects and installation of potable water systems.

For barangays Darapuay, Managa and Sibayan of Bansalan, the following projects were chosen: road concreting, solar street lights, road opening, potable water systems and construction of barangay health station.

Meanwhile, farm-to-market roads, vocational and technical school building, potable water systems, fruit crops and livelihood projects will be implemented in Brgy. Saliducon in Sta. Cruz. Sabio said these projects are now in the process of implementation, and the period of implementation is until December 31, 2022.

The National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) has funded the said assistance under its Support to Barangay Development Program for the barangays which have previously been cleared of the threat and influence of the communist terrorist group (CTG).

Another 17 barangays from the municipalities of Matanao, Magsaysay, Kiblawan and Sta. Cruz will be the second batch to benefit from the ₱ 20 million BDP funding.

Sabio said that they will be visiting the recipient barangays to help identify suitable and needed projects for the communities. (Carina L. Cayon, PIA-XI | Michael Manguhig, RPN DXKT Davao OIC)
