Davao De Oro Declares State Of Calamity Amid COVID-19 Threat

In pursuant to Resolution No. 467-2020, the Provincial Government of Davao de Oro declares a state of calamity due to public health emergency caused by the Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) and its local effects within its area of responsibility.

The declaration of resolution is duly approved during the regular session of the 8th Sangguniang Panlalawigan held on March 16, 2020 at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall, Legislative Building, Provincial Capitol Complex. Upon declaration of a State of Calamity the government allows to use its Quick Response Fund (QRF) from the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund in utilizing for relief, rehabilitation, reconstruction, recovery and other works of services in order to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, referring to the disease caused by the virus.

The resolution states to uphold the people’s constitutional rights to life and property by addressing the root cause of vulnerabilities to disasters and strengthen the country’s institutional capacity for disaster risk reduction and management and building the resilience of local communities to disasters including climate change impacts.

The Department of Health-Davao Center of Health Development (DCHD) disclosed yesterday the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Region XI who is identified as PH130, a 21-year-old female patient from Davao de Oro. As of present, she is in a stable condition according to the DCHD Advisory.

Meanwhile, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Antonio Ybiernas Jr. reported that as of March 16, 2020, the province of DdO has six (6) Persons Under Investigation (PUI), four (4) PUI has been discharged and one (1) case confirmed.

The Provincial Government is now strictly implementing preventive measures amidst the threat of COVID-19. This is to ensure the safety of the public along the province.
