Despite challenges in 2020 due to the health crisis, Davao City business establishments are still hopeful of a promising year ahead as more of them have submitted business permit applications this year.

As of January 31, the deadline for business permit renewal, the city’s Business Permit and Licensing Office head Maribel Paguican said that her office received a total of 37,920 renewal applications.

Although it is still short of the 42,000 target, Paguican said a total of 2,000 more applications were received this year compared last year’s 35,682.

She was also thankful that the implementation of the seven (7) satellite one-stop-shop locations went smoothly without any problems relating to Covid-19.

“Nahuman gyud nato ang application na wala na-lockdown or na-stop ang operation,” Paguican said.

Paguican said that of the 37,920 applicants for renewal, 33,342 have paid their dues to the City Treasurer’s Office. Those who have not paid within the deadline will pay the 25 percent penalty.

She added that 18,080 have already been issued their permit. They still have to issue permits to more than 19,800 applicants.

“Ang influx sa mga client karon naa na sa pag-issue sa permit, although wala na ni deadline. Dili na sila dapat ma-pressure kay wala ni penalty,” Paguican said.

Paguican said that her office will also now focus on new business permit applications, since they limited transactions in January to focus on the renewal.  CIO, Michael Manguhig OIC RPN Dxkt Davao
