Davao City Mayor Honors Wounded Soldier On Heroes Day

Davao City – A wounded soldier from the 27th Infantry Battalion was honored and received cash assistance during the celebration of National Heroes’ Day in Metro Davao Research and Medical Center, Davao City.

Hon. Sarah Duterte-Carpio, City Mayor of Davao City personally visited and handed over cash assistance to Sgt. Rex Marvin A Lumanda (Inf) PA who was wounded during the August 26 armed clash against NPA Terrorist in Paquibato District, Davao City that resulted to one (1) NPA Terrorist body count.

The clash transpired after the troops of the 27th Infantry Battalion received a tip from the residents of Paquibato District about the presence of NPA terrorists in their community.

As the Philippines celebrate the National Heroes Day, Filipinos also commemorate all the efforts of our soldiers who paid the ultimate sacrifice for the country and people.

Recognizing the bravery of Sgt. Lumandas, Hon. Sara Duterte-Carpio extended her gratitude to the men and women of 27IB, especially to Sgt. Lumandas.

“Salamat sa imohang sakripisyo para dinhi sa Davao City” she said.

The recognition and visit which falls on National Heroes Day have further boosted the morale of Sgt. Lumandas. In return, the Battalion Commander of 27IB, LTC. VICTORINO M. SEÑO (GSC) PA expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Local Government Unit of Davao City, especially to Hon. Sara Duterte-Carpio for recognizing the sacrifices and efforts of the soldiers and the continued support provided to 27th Infantry Battalion, 10th Infantry Division, PA.
