The Davao City Water District will offer free water to its consumer residents with 1/2-size water meters on November 9, 2024.
DCWD Spokesperson Jovana Cresta Duhaylungsod, during the I-Speak Media forum, said that hundreds of service connections are expected to avail of free consumption that will be reflected in their December 2024 billing.
“Wala na ni registration, ang importante lang na qualified ka as customer, ang importante lang is residential and one-half inch ang imuhang metro. Kana sya mao na ang usual size sa mga water meter sa balay-balay and that is around 198,500 service connections. (There is no need for registration; what is important is you are qualified as a customer; what is important is you are a residential (consumer), and you have a 1/2 inch water meter. That is the usual water meter we have in the household and that is around 198,500 service connections),” she said.
She urged Dabawenyos to take advantage of the promo.
“I-schedule na ninyo ang inyong limpyo og laba on November 9, 2024, kay libre ang atong konsumo ana (You may already schedule your cleaning and laundry on Nov. 9, 2024 because the consumption is free on that day),” Duhaylungsod said.
She said that the promo is in line with the 51st Anniversary of the Davao City Water District. The anniversary also coincides with the Water Consciousness Month.
Duhaylungsod said they will be conducting school-based and community-based activities for the whole month.
“[In these activities] we will be highlighting ang garbo karon sa siyudad because Davao City is enjoying right now kadtong ginatawag na climate resilient water service because we have both ground and surface water. Kita palang sa tibuok Pilipinas ang naay abundant contingencies in place, nga kung unsa man ang dagan sa panahon, labi na kung naay El Nino, dili ta maguol kay ang atong water supply is more than enough to cover our existing and future demand (In these activities we will be highlighting the pride of the city because Davao City is enjoying right now what we call climate-resilient water service because we have both and surface water. The city is first, out of all cities in the Philippines, to have abundant contingencies, which can withstand climate scenarios, especially during El Nino, wherein we will not have to worry because our water supply is more than enough to cover our existing and future demand,” Duhaylungsod said.
She added that they will also conduct activities to give thanks to consumers, and these include communities in the watershed for helping secure the city’s water sources. (Davao CIO)
