PCOO Sec. Martin Andanar together with Cong. Robert Ace Barbers of Surigao del Norte, Surigao City Mayor Ernesto Matugas, Jr., and school heads and teachers, leads the cutting of ribbon of the Wencelito Andanar school building at Surigao City Pilot School today, July 27.

The new building, which was established in honor of the secretary’s late father, is intended to aid better education for the students of the said school through the new facility.

During the blessing and turn-over ceremony of the 4-storey building at Surigao City Pilot School today, July 27, School Principal Dr. Felix Bagnol, expressed his gratitude for the establishment of the new school buildings, which is spearheaded by PCOO Sec. Martin Andanar. “We are very lucky indeed because we have great leaders in our province and in our city. We are proud to have witnessed this very milestone of our school,” the school principal said on behalf of the school, which is manned by 83 teachers and 9 non-teaching personnel. Around 3,104 students are currently enrolled in the school.

As the largest public elementary educational institution in the city of Surigao, the additional four-storey building of the Surigao City Pilot School according to PCOO Sec. Martin Andanar will breathe life to the dreams and aspirations and likewise create lasting memories for the learners in Surigao.

He also expressed how meaningful it is for him to have attended classes during his youthful years in the said school, he gave high regard and made a personal commitment to effect continual school improvements in any way he can.

“I am optimistic that soon, we will be able to go back to the lives we had pre-pandemic so that our children and our learners will be able to truly benefit from this project,” he said.

For now, Sec. Andanar is encouraging everyone to continue to mask up, and follow health protocols for everyone’s safety, “as we wait for our turn to be vaccinated against COVID-19.”

In today’s blessing and turn-over ceremony of classrooms at Surigao City Pilot School, PCOO Sec. Martin Andanar congratulated everyone who contributed in completing and making the project a reality.
