“According to the report of Brig. Gen. Leonel Nicholas of the 102nd Infantry Brigade and as a result of the confession of a newly surrendered member of Communist Terrorist Groups’ MRGU, WMRPC, the Combined elements of the JTF Zampelan and the PNP Zamboanga Del Sur discovered an arms cache of the Communist Terrorist Group at the boundary of Sitio Madagas, Brgy. Guibo, Siayan, Zamboanga del Norte and Sitio Pisio, Brgy. Balonai, Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur in the morning of October 14, 2020. Our troops discovered two AK47 and one M16A1 rifles, and six magazines for AK47,” said Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr., WestMinCom Commander.
“Together with local government units and PNP counterparts, we will continue to degrade the capabilities of the Communist Terrorist Group in Zamboanga del Sur province and promote security in the peaceful communities,” Lt. Gen. Vinluan added.
The recovered war materials were placed under the custody of the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company for documentation and safekeeping.
Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Generoso Ponio, JTF ZamPeLan Commander, congratulated the 102nd Infantry Brigade for being steadfast in downgrading the capabilities of the Communist Terrorist Group in Zamboanga del Sur.
“We call on all peace-loving citizens to continue to support us in all our endeavors most especially in defeating this terrorist group,” Maj. General Generoso Ponio added.
