Camp Col. Rafael C. Rodriguez, Butuan City – A total of 93 loose firearms were confiscated from the 25 individuals as Police Regional Office (PRO)13 intensified its crackdown on illegal possession of firearms as part of the Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations yesterday (July 30).

The operations stemmed from a total of 40 search warrants issued by the local courts in the different areas in the region.

RD CARAMAT JR stated the importance of making these loose firearms become subjects of police operations to prevent gun-related incidents especially in the upcoming 2022 elections.

“Gun-related violence threatens our most fundamental human right, the right to life. That is why we will give our best shot in apprehending those who possess loose firearms including those who failed to turn-in their firearms to the police station pending for renewal of licenses,” the region’s police chief highlighted.

Arrested persons will be charged with violation of RA No. 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.  (PMaj. Dorothy M. Tumulak)
