Communist NPA Terrorist arrested during PNP-AFP checkpoint now facing charges for Illegal possession of FA and grenade

——- In line with the standing orders of Police General DEBOLD M. SINAS, Chief of the Philippine National Police, to intensify the crackdown on criminality, insurgency, and terrorism in the country, a case for violation of Republic Act No. 10591 or Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunition and Republic Act No. 9516 or Illegal Possession of Explosive has been successfully filed against the Vice-Team Leader of Special Partisan Unit (SPARU) of Guerilla Front (GF) 16, Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC) who was arrested during joint checkpoint operation of Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines in Claver, Surigao del Norte. Police Brigadier General ROMEO M. CARAMAT, JR, Regional Director of PNP Caraga, disclosed that Christian Parajes Romero, 35 years old, resident of Purok-1, Barangay Daywan, municipality of Claver, and Vice-Team Leader of SPARU, GF-16, NEMRC was arrested last January 21 during a joint PNP-AFP checkpoint established along National Highway, Purok-2, Barangay Ladgaron, municipality of Claver. A Colt 1911 caliber .45 pistol, two magazines, ten ammunition, and a hand grenade were recovered from the suspect’s possession by personnel of Claver Municipal Police Station, 2nd Surigao del Norte Provincial Mobile Force Company, and 30th Infantry Brigade of the 4th Infantry Division, Philippine Army. The cases are now being filed at the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor, Surigao del Norte with Docket No. XIII-06-INQ-21A-013. “PNP Caraga in partnership with our AFP counterpart will continue to intensify our aggressive efforts against the members of the terroristic group and strengthen our legal offensive for the attainment of long and lasting peace which is the ultimate object of Executive Order No. 70 of Duterte administration,” PBGEN CARAMAT, JR said.
