The City Government Thursday afternoon spearheaded activities commemorating the 108th birthday of Roseller T. Lim, the first and only Zamboangueño elected as member of the Senate.
Representing Mayor John Dalipe, City Administrator Mario Yanga extolled the late senator for his contributions to the country and to Zamboanga City.
Mercibel Lim Fuertovilla, the senator’s second child, thanked the City Government for the honor and respect accorded to her father through the annual commemoration of Dia de Roseller T. Lim.
The activity kicked off 4pm with a mass at the Carmelite church followed by the wreath laying rites and commemorative program at the R. T. Lim Monument in Baliwasan.
Highlight of the commemoration was the awarding of the Five Outstanding Young Zamboangueño Young Leaders, a joint project of the City Government and JCI Zamboanga Inc.
The commemoration is based on Ordinance 283 approved by the City Council in 2006 designating February 9 as “Dia de Roseller T. Lim”.
