Cebu City – Gitakdang mopatuman ang Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) ug 70 porsento nga increase sa water rates sugod sa Hulyo 2023 ug bahinon kini ug kaduha.
Gipahibaw ni Atty. Jose Daluz III, chairman sa MCWD board of directors, nga dunay adjustment sa taripa sa tubig hangtud sa 60 porsento sugod sa Hulyo 1, 2023 ug dunay supplementary adjustment sa tuig 2024 ngadto sa 10 porsento.
Matod ni Daluz nga base sa Local Water Utilties Administration guidelines, ang water utilities maka implementa ug price adjustment kada lima ka tuig; Ang MCWD sa ilang bahin wala maka pasaka sa presyo sud sa walo na ka tuig.
“We have invested so much to raise our water source, and it’s time to adjust our rates because MCWD has been absorbing the expenses for eight years already,“ pahibaw ni Daluz.“In fact, the back-up reserve of MCWD has already been depleted due to the expenses because we have not asked the public to adjust our tariff. I think it’s time to adjust our tariff because it is also not too high,” dugang pahibaw ni Daluz.
Subay ning planong adjustment, matod ni Daluz nga kadtong nagbayad ug P183.17 kada buwan sa pag konsumo ug 10 cubic meters matag adlaw, mokabayad na P250.51 kada buwan sugod sa Hulyo 1, 2023..
Kini nagpasabot nga dunay ₱ 67.34 nga umento matag buwan o ₱ 2.24 matag adlaw.
Sa kasamtangan, sagad sa mga konsumidor sa MCWD magbayad ug ₱ 15.20 per cubic meter sa unang 10 cubic meters sa usa ka buwan.
“Out of 130-plus water districts all over the Philippines, we are in the top 10 as to the cheapest water. Even with this adjustment, we will still be in the top 10 on the cheapest rate,” pahibaw ni Daluz.
