Response Teams from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) were dispatched to assist the Bureau of Fire Protection in firefighting operations at the Zamboanga International Airport compound in Gov. Camins, barangay Canelar shortly before 11am, Friday.
A sari-sari store was gutted down by the fire that hit the concessionaire area located on the left side of the airport compound.
No one was hurt during the incident.
The fire also partially damaged 2 adjacent stores including a building occupied by the Cebu Pacific ticketing office, according to initial the initial report of the Zamboanga City Fire District.
Fire probers are still investigating the cause of the fire but witnesses intimated that the fire originated from the makeshift room of the affected store.
The incident did not affect airport operations as the fire scene was located outside of the airport building.
Resources on ground were from the Central Fire Station – Bauer 10, FEC No. 26 Sta. Maria, FEC Hino of CFS ,Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines firefighting unit and the ZCDRRMO water tanker.
The fire reached first alarm and was reported at 10:50am. It was declared under control at 11:30am and fire out at 11:50am.
