Benguet Tightens Border To Prevent COVID-19 Surge

Benguet Governor Melchor Diclas ordered the implementation of new border restrictions for non- Benguet residents entering the province to present a negative RT-PCR result or vaccination card at border checkpoints.

The order was based on the approved policies agreed by the members of the Provincial Inter Agency Task Force meeting last Wednesday to prevent the transmission of the COVID-19 virus.

With the presence of the delta variant in the country, Gov. Diclas In his order will also require individuals entering the province to present vaccination card reflecting the card owner is fully-vaccinated against CoVID-19. at border checkpoints.

Diclas in the advisory also reiterated the strict implementation of health protocols in the province to avoid further transmission of the CoVID-19 virus.

Further, to ensure the safety of the public, CoVID-19 patients, whether symptomatic or asymptomatic, are required to complete their isolation in the nearest quarantine facility or at a temporary treatment and monitoring facility.

All the 13 municipalities in the province are advised to craft their respective travel advisories to be strictly followed when entering their area of responsibility.

At present there are 304 active COVID-19 cases in the province.
