At about 9:10 PM of August 11, 2024, a report was received by Banna MPS from a concerned citizeninforming that there was an incident of illegal discharge of firearm happened at Brgy Macayepyep, Banna, Ilocos Norte near the elementary school of the said barangay.
Personnel of Banna MPS immediately responded and the investigation conducted disclosed thatValeriano Agliday y Gonzales AKA "VALLI", 53 years old, went at Cherry May Store when Rommel Garciaand Dencio Barit arrived at the wake of the late Magdalena Baniaga, thereafter, when Rommel Garciasaw Valeriano Agliday approaching at the said store, Rommel Garcia intentionally bumped his motorcycle to the driven motorcycle of Valeriano Agliday prompting him (Valeriano Agliday) to pull off his gun and fired once hitting the concrete cement of the road.
Then and there, Dencio Barit saw Valeriano Agliday handling a gun and he immediately grabbed the firearm but failed and immediately fled towards east from the place of incident bringing his firearm,thereafter, responding police officers saw a male person walking at the street with the same description given by the reporter prompting to frisk him and he voluntarily surrender one (1) unit of cal. 45 without serial number, with markings cal. 45 ACP and one inserted magazine with two (2) loaded ammunitions.
At about 10: 25 PM. on August 11, 2024, responding PNP personnel immediately arrested the suspect and brought to Banna MPS for documentation and proper disposition. Further, responding personnel also asked the firearm registration and his license to own and possess firearm but failed to present.
