Batac: Ilocos Norte sustains P66-M damage from Carina

The province of Ilocos Norte sustained around PHP66 million infrastructure damage from Typhoon Carina, while initial damage to agriculture reached PHP 481,000, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said Wednesday evening.

Based on the report, there are 851 affected families consisting of 2,675 individuals, at least 11 persons remained in evacuation sites.

At least two houses were partially damaged due to a landslide and a fallen tree in this city.

Marcell Tabije, Ilocos Norte local disaster risk reduction and management officer, said the public is advised to stay vigilant as Super Typhoon Carina intensifies while on its way to Northern Taiwan, packing maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 230 kilometers per hour.
