The provincial government of Ilocos Norte on Monday recognized employees and retirees who have faithfully served at the capitol for at least 35 years.
Sixty-three individuals — 32 retirees and 31 employees — were recognized during the Pasasalamat (Gratitude) and Length of Service Awards held at the Malacañang of the North.
“I applaud you and we appreciate you. As we always say, this is not goodbye, we will see you later, and rest assured that we remain family whatever may happen,” Governor Matthew Joseph Manotoc told the retirees in a short speech while enjoining the employees to continue serving the province.
Aside from plaques and tokens of appreciation, a luncheon was also organized by the provincial government for the retirees and loyalty awardees.
“You have given the [provincial government] the best of your life and we are so appreciative of your work because you are the backbone of our provincial government. We may not be able to find people as good as you but hopefully, we will be able to find good ones that are teachable and trainable to be able as good as you,” Vice Governor Cecilia Araneta-Marcos said during the same ceremony.
She said the unwavering dedication of employees is vital in the delivery of quality and efficient service to the people.
Among those recognized during the program was retiree Rommel Lorenzo, chief of the Provincial Security Guard. He said working for the government entails a lot of hard work and commitment regardless of who the chief executive is. (PNA)
