The provincial government of Ilocos Norte is donating PHP2 million each to three local governments in Cagayan Valley and Bicol Region devastated by recent typhoons.
“The provincial government of Ilocos Norte will donate PHP2 million each to the province of
Cagayan, Tuguegarao (City), and Camarines Sur to help our kababayans (fellowmen) affected by the onslaught of the series of typhoons,” Governor Matthew Joseph Manotoc said in a media interview at the Capitol.
Manotoc said these areas were among the hardest hit, based on data from the Office of Civil Defense.
Ilocos Norte also suffered from the previous typhoons but not as much compared to the three identified provinces, he said.
Apart from the financial aid, Ilocos Norte’s provincial government also rolled out a donation drive during the Himala sa Buhangin festival a few weeks ago, encouraging residents to give in-kind or cash aid.
Donors provided hygiene kits, non-perishable goods, and bottled water, among others. (Leilanie Adriano)
