Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc urged Batch 2024 graduates to join public service during his congratulatory speech at Mariano Marcos State University’s (MMSU) 46th Commencement Exercises on July 10.

Gov. Marcos Manotoc shared multiple tips for the graduates on how to navigate life after college, emphasized the importance of public service, and encouraged new graduates to consider careers in government institutions, highlighting the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to local communities, stating:

“I look forward to working with all of you, Class of 2024. As Senator Imee Marcos said, you need to find employment that you are truly satisfied with. You have an employer in us at the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte and I hope we can work together.

I encourage you all to create, to innovate, to disrupt, and to trailblaze, to find your own path. But no matter how far you may go, no matter how high you may reach, always come back home to Ilocos Norte.”

Meanwhile, former Ilocos Norte Governor and now Senator Imee R. Marcos attended the event as the guest of honor and speaker, and was conferred with a degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Rural Development Honoris Causa in recognition of her extensive and outstanding service in the government sector.

She encouraged the graduates to follow their passions and to not fear failure, stating:

“Dream high and dream big, you are from MMSU. We don’t settle for less, never impose limits on what you can and cannot do. In the times we live in, the possibilities are endless, be fearless like the Ilokanos of yore. Do not fear failure, it’s not the end of the road, but rather a bump along the way.”

The commencement exercises marked a turning-point for the 3,110 graduates of MMSU, as they move forward on their professional journeys. Governor Manotoc’s call to action serves as a reminder of the vital role that young, dedicated individuals play in shaping the future of the province and the country. (Allyssa Charisse Magno)
