Baguio: Panagbenga 2022 to resume in March

The city has officially announced the staging again of Panagbenga or Baguio Flower Festival in March minus the crowd-drawing events, the Street Dance Parade and Float Parade.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong said most of the activities in Panagbenga Festival will be done in open areas to easily control and limit the crowd and ensure compliance to health protocols.

The New activities like a dance competition and Montanosa Film Festival had been added to this years edition.

The Mayor added that the Panagbenga festival will have an impact on the city’s economic recovery since the city expects to attract more tourists during the event.

However, Magalong said that he will not recommend further easing up the city’s Alert level to 1 in March due to the need to retain certain health restrictions but will recommend resumption of face-to-face classes subject to regulations.

Officials of the Baguio Flower Festival Foundation (BFFFI) and the city government agreed that the 2022 Panagbenga Festival will only have the landscapes competition on the opening day, March 6, heritage, and cultural creativity events, painting and kite-flying events; Session Road in Bloom in March 21.
